If you are too ill to leave the house, you may request a home visit by telephoning the surgery before 10:30 am.
Please be prepared to give the receptionist any details she requires so that the urgency of the situation can be assessed.
Please attend the surgery if it is at all possible. The doctor can see 3 people in the surgery in the time it takes to visit 1 person routinely at home.
Visits requested after 10:30 am should be for urgent problems only. You will be asked to speak to the on-call doctor to assess the need and urgency.
If the on-call doctor has to leave the surgery to visit someone who has requested a home visit after 10:30 am, it can take anything up to 1 hour to complete this visit and return to the surgery. The doctor can see 6-8 people in the surgery in this time and people waiting in the surgery will inevitably be delayed.
