In order to work as a GP, doctors are required to complete a Vocational Training Course in General Practice which lasts for 3 years. All doctors on this course are fully qualified doctors who have already completed their degree course at university and have spent at least 1 year working in hospital. Doctors undergoing Vocational Training are known as GP Registrars. From time to time, a GP Registrar works in the practice for 6 months. As part of this training, GP Registrars will be observed during some of their surgeries by one of the other doctors who will be present in the consulting room. On other occasions, the GP Registrar will sit in with one of the doctors to observe the doctor whilst he or she is consulting.
Video consultations.
GP Registrars are required to video some consultations as part of their training and assessment. This is done only with your written consent. No intimate physical examinations are videoed and the camera can be switched off at any time if you prefer.
