Please make an appointment to see the doctor for initial advice on all types of family planning. The doctor may ask you to see the practice nurse or nurse practitioner for follow-up care and repeat prescriptions.
Choices of contraception available :
- The combined pill ("the pill")
- The progesterone-only pill ("the mini pill")
- Progesterone injections (Depo-Provera)
- The intrauterine contraceptive device ("the coil" or IUCD)
- The cervical cap
- Natural family planning
- Emergency contraception ("the morning after pill"). If you require emergency contraception you should see the doctor as soon as possible and certainly within 72 hours. Alternatively, you can obtain this service from a local family planning clinic.
